I’m Dr. Lisa Mifsud, a general practitioner and the founder of Cockatoo Publications. I live and work in Melbourne as both a GP and a medical educator, where I’m fortunate to combine my love of caring for people with a passion for teaching. In addition to my clinical and educational roles, I created Cockatoo Publications as a platform to share my love of books and reading with others.

My journey with books hasn’t always been easy—growing up, I struggled with reading and writing. Those early challenges have shaped who I am today and fuelled my determination to create stories that are engaging, accessible, and inspiring for young readers. Through Cockatoo Publications, my goal is to spark curiosity, nurture imagination, and help children discover the joy of learning through books.

At the heart of this work is a simple belief: every child deserves the chance to fall in love with reading, no matter where they start.
